2022 CSR Report

At Hunter Industries, 2022 was a year of reflection.

“Despite supply chain disruptions in 2022, we continued to emphasize and make progress toward our CSR goals.” Greg Hunter

As the global community made strides toward a post-pandemic recovery in 2022, our company continued to face supply chain disruptions that affected our operations. By working together, we overcame these hurdles and made progress toward our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals, which you’ll find outlined in our 11th annual CSR Report.

In the report, you will also find:

  • A word from our CEO, Greg Hunter
  • Stories from our Family of Companies that showcase how our products support customer initiatives
  • Updated progress on CSR goals

As we look ahead, we will continue striving to grow our company conscientiously, supporting our communities, and doing our part to protect our planet for future generations.

Achieving our CSR goals is not the work of one department or team –it takes all of us working together.

Thank you for supporting our CSR journey.

Circular Manufacturing Project to Reduce Waste

At the Irrigation Show in Orlando, Florida, in 2017, a discussion about recycling, sustainability, and circular manufacturing developed into a plan to deliver a Senninger waste stream to a local manufacturer in the landscape industry. Over the next several years, the two companies were able to convert an aspirational conversation into a win-win collaboration. The program finally launched in 2022, collecting over 13,500 pounds (6,124 kg) of scrap plastic waste that was diverted from the landfill, reground, and injection-molded into new parts for Tree Frog Environmental Products. Building off this success, additional scrap plastic waste will be evaluated for another potential circular manufacturing partnership opportunity in 2023.

Saving Paper

We are no longer adding printed installation sheets to our product boxes. With the re-boxing that typically takes place at the dealerships, these sheets do not get into the hands of the installers. This process results in unnecessary paper waste – averaging more than 84,000 sheets annually. Because it takes 3 gallons of water to make a sheet of paper, this change saves 252,000 gallons annually. Stopping this process also saves the labor of adding the sheets to the boxes and maintaining the sheets' inventory, as well as the energy required for the machines that print these sheets. The product installation sheets are available on our website on each pivot product page. We have added a new convenient way for customers to access this information. On our website's main menu, under the RESOURCES tab at the top, we now have a new dropdown option called Installation Recommendations. This option takes folks to a page with all our current installation sheets and the regulator caution form.

Senninger Helping Others (SHO)

We are focused on the health and well-being of the local community

Earth Day

Plant a Tree for Earth Day - Senninger provided employees with red maple tree saplings to transplant at home. What is special about these is that they were grown locally at Cherry Lake Tree Farm, which irrigates with Senninger sprinklers. Here is the Facebook video of the event.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Senninger Helping Others collaborated with 'Sleep in Heavenly Peace', an organization that gives beds to children who are sleeping on the floor, free of charge. Children will receive a bed, sheets and blanket, and a pillow. The SHO team came together and helped build a total of 30 beds.

Matthew’s Hope

Thanks to all those who have continued to support Matthew’s Hope in their efforts to help the homeless. Senninger employees donated gently used coats and blankets that were delivered early in December, and the collection efforts continued through the end of the month. The second load of coats and blankets will be dropped off in January, just in time for the colder weather. Another great example of what you do matters!

Florida FFA Foundation

Senninger provides support to the Florida FFA Foundation to support American agriculture by investing in the next generations. Donations help students participate in career and leadership at their leadership conference and annual convention. FFA enriches the lives of over 7000 youth enrolled in agricultural education in Florida.

Angel Tree

Senninger employees donated gifts and cash for the Salvation Army joining with others to help nearly 1000 families in need across Lake and Sumter counties. This local Angel Tree program allowed 2169 children to unwrap toys and clothing on Christmas morning. Additionally, 148 senior citizens were blessed with gifts and basic needs. Plus, families received grocery gift cards to help with their holiday food needs.

Christmas Raffle

Senninger employees participated in a raffle at the annual Christmas party and raised $1500 to support various SHO (Senninger Helping Others) events. SHO looks for opportunities for employees to support our local community and those in need worldwide.

Holidays With Heroes

Senninger provided financial assistance for the local Holidays with Heroes event in December. This was a great opportunity for Clermont Police Officers and Clermont Firefighters to meet with families in our community providing gifts to children who might not have received them otherwise. In addition to sharing special moments with these children, the heroes also built relationships with their parents. The event brought joy, community cohesiveness, and positive interaction with law enforcement.

Lake Cares Food Pantry

Senninger made a donation to Lake Cares to help provide food to struggling individuals and families living in Lake County. This includes weekend food over the holiday break for children who rely on school breakfasts and lunches. Lake Care hosts holiday food drives, fundraising events, and special holiday food distributions. By the end of 2021, they distributed over a million pounds of food serving over 55,000 individuals and 14,500 families. They have a main pantry location and seven satellite locations throughout the county.

Ukraine Project

Senninger assembled hygiene kits for displaced Ukrainian families. This initiative is part of #SOAPSAVESLIVES and CleanTheWorldFoundation.org. Hunter wanted to help the victims and refugees of the war with immediate financial assistance to provide shelter, food, medicine, and other essential needs. As an organization, we donated to leading global charitable giving solutions provider Benevity to support their relief efforts through the nonprofit organization Nova Ukraine.
